Education is a pillar of Vision 2020. In September of 2006, Kigali International Community School (KICS) was established as an educational option for missionary families and families of Christian cross-cultural workers. Without an education option like this Rwanda was a difficult location for families with children to base themselves and work. It is critical for Rwanda's development efforts for an option like this to exist and local officials encouraged it. Rwanda Outreach and Community (ROC) Partners is happy to serve the nation of Rwanda through KICS. After a year of meeting in a rented home with 45 students, KICS moved into the ROC facilities where it is now home to over 200 K-12 students. KICS is a key ROC project in blessing the nation of Rwanda through education. Our efforts toward helping in Rwanda’s Vision 2020 would not be complete without an education project of this caliber.
KICS offers a faith-based curriculum to children from multicultural backgrounds. KICS believes that education focused on faith and excellence will help Kigali continue to develop into a community of peace, progress, justice, and faith. Children from missionary families, relief organization families, embassy families, Rwandan families, and others will create a meaningful community by learning together.
